Vedic astrology (Jyotish) is a 2,000-year-old system that maps the sky at the exact moment of your birth, using the sidereal zodiac that tracks where the stars actually are. Its signature is timing: while Western astrology describes personality, Vedic astrology also maps when life themes activate, in dated chapters of 6 to 20 years.
A Vedic birth chart (Jyotish) maps the exact positions of the Sun, Moon, and planets at the moment of your birth using the sidereal zodiac. Unlike Western astrology which uses the tropical zodiac, Vedic astrology accounts for the precession of equinoxes (ayanamsa), making planetary positions astronomically accurate. It includes predictive timing systems like Vimshottari Dasha that map the chapters of your life.
Vimshottari Dasha divides your life into planetary periods (Mahadashas) lasting 6 to 20 years each, with sub-periods (Antardashas) providing more specific timing. Each period activates different themes based on which planet governs it and where that planet sits in your chart.
